Nationals @ Rockies
Game 1
What a game! This was the Rockies first game back since there 3 game road trip to Cincinnati.
Pre-game plan was to go to batting practice and get autographs but by the time I got there players were already on the field warming up and I knew that I probably wouldn’t get anyone… I was right, I didn’t get anything. Lately things have not gone as plan getting graphs but that’s part of the game.
Anyway onto the game! Pitching for the Rockies was Jhoulys Chacin and for the Nationals Dan Haren. As you will see I traveled around the stadium this game!
The Nationals got on the scoreboard first in the 2nd inning by a double from Denard Span which scored Anthony Rendon and Kurt Suzuki. Nationals lead the Rockies 2-0. I didn’t realize how much of a pitching duel it was until looking at the box score.
The Rockies were the next ones to get on the board in 5th inning by scoring 5. This was a Colvin’s first game back since being recalled and man did he show why he deserved to be up here! He hit a 2-run homerun in the 5th tying the game up at 2 each.
A few batter later we saw Carlos Gonzalez go deep to left field scoring JP and Dex putting the Rockies on top. 5-2 Rockies leading the Nationals.
The Nationals tried to battle back in the 8th scoring 1 but the Rockies sealed the deal in the bottom of the 8th scoring 3 making the final score 8-3. Tyler Colvin hit another homerun making that his 2nd one of the night!
This was a great game and this is how this team should be playing…PERIOD!
After the only people who walked out were Rockies and no Nationals, which sucked but it was late and I understand.
So after a good win and no graphs I headed back to Parker. This is where I’m leaving this game! The Rockies win game 1!
